Demand Response Driven by Distribution Network Voltage Limit Violation: A Genetic Algorithm Approach for Load Shifting

The residential sector electricity demand has been increasing over the years, leading to an effort of power network components, namely during peak periods. This together with levels renewable-based energy generation and need ensure service quality, in terms voltage profile, is challenging distribution operation. Demand response can play important role facing these challenges, bringing several benefits, both for operation consumer (e.g., increase components lifetime consumers bill reduction). present research work proposes a genetic algorithm-based model use consumers’ load flexibility event participation. proposed method optimally shifts loads enable participation while respecting preferences constraints. A realistic low 236 buses used illustrate application model. results show considerable cost savings improvement profile.
